About Face
Take action and let your voice be heard.
'About Face' invites commentary on artistic, personal, and cultural identity, as much as it is about the politics of authority, representation, inclusion, and exclusion. For this call, we would like to see work that ranges from bold and socio-political to subtle and poetic. We’d like the world to see through your unique lens.
There is an opportunity for the artist to take the concept in any number of directions, considering the expression's double meaning, focusing on the fluidity of self/identity or centering the underrepresented, for example.
This call is an open question that asks artists to interpret the concept widely when selecting works to submit. Let your imagination flow as you think about the theme and how you feel about its meaning. True and clear interpretations will catch our attention. The work should speak to your message and your statement should explain intention, unique materials, processes or any risks taken.
Artists on Fire
Juniper Rag presents Artists on Fire in collaboration with The Worcester Center for Crafts, opening on Hot Night in the City, July 21 from 4-9 pm. We have curated 45 artists and over 125 works of art from over 355 submissions. Join us in celebration of summer with a hot collection of must-see artwork!
TORRID| Abstract Impressions Closing Party
Juniper Rag invited artists to submit art that explore how the word “torrid” strikes them through subject matter or materials. Is it climate change, heat, energy, style or physical attraction? Artists were free to explore and present work reflecting their instinctive response in any medium.
In these times of immense change and a paradigm shift in our society after the global pandemic, we may see the world through a new lens and be more impacted and stimulated by things we now notice more. The emergence we all feel now from the cold winter days make us think of spring, calling for some heat!
Slow Art Day | Worcester
Juniper Rag artists featured in SLOW ART, a global event. SUNDAY, APRIL 16, 2023 for SLOW ART Worcester, not April 15. Slow Art Day is a global viewing day of looking at art slowly that happens around the world. Slow Art Day events all around the world are shaped a little differently, but share a focus on slow looking and its transformative power.
