Ask Now the Beasts by Tara Sellios, derived from the Biblical Book of Job, weaves together art historical, literary and biblical references to create Sellios's vision of an apocalyptic world. Sellios's highly detailed large format still life photographs capture the beauty of the grotesque as skeletons fly, insects swarm, and dried flowers dance. Her accompanying narratives complement and extend the viewer’s journey into her vision.

Art is not merely a spectacle to behold but a living, breathing entity that permeates every facet of our existence. As Co-Founder of Juniper Rag, we founded this platform to share, explore and understand important contemporary art that surrounds us, urging others to do the same with a depth that transcends mere observations. Engaging in art is critical for the unification of communities, cities and the world.

For Worcester, this was our sixth Slow Art Day, held on April 16 at The White Room Gallery in Worcester, Massachusetts. The event was hosted by Payal Thiffault and Michelle May of Juniper Rag magazine, who are tow of the founding hosts from the very first Slow Art experiment of 2009. An in-person event was organized and the invitation was also extended to artists, whose work was on exhibition at TORRID | Abstract Impressions.

As artists in the Baroque period did, I intend to arouse an internal response in the viewer by making imagery that marries the harsh and intense with the elegant and seductive. -Sellios
