Margot Roi

MARGOT ROI

Oakville, ONTARIO, CANADA

The darkness expressed in my works emphasizes a need to be on the edge or between the edges. A
point where something is about to happen or not to be physically connected to any one side. The
uncertainty of perilous complacency and curiosity.

Canadian abstract artist Margot Roi aims to resolve painterly dissonance into beautiful harmony. Being in
that focused flow, to capture the unfolding narrative, drives her intuitive gestural process. She is inspired
by capturing those exciting chaotic celebrations that contrast the little meditative moments to reveal
emotional connections. Creating in themed collections allows Margot to explore notions that resonate one
abstracted layer at a time. Margot has received numerous provincial and regional awards for her work as
a visual artist and arts educator of 30 years. She holds a Fabric Design degree from Sheridan College, a
BFA from University of Windsor, and a B ED from Nipissing University.
